What Is Cervical Radiculopathy?

If you have cervical radiculopathy, that means you have some area in which compression and inflammation are occurring in the neck area. The pain can be fleeting or come and go. It can be very severe in some situations, while in others, it may be moderately painful. Here are some symptoms you may have:

  • Radiating pain in the area of your neck, upper back, and shoulders
  • Muscle weakness
  • Numbness and tingling in the region
  • Weakened reflexes
  • Pins and needles feeling

These symptoms could be due to injuries from sports, car accidents, or degenerative conditions. The bad news is that the pain can be intense, potentially limiting your overall quality of life.

How Chiropractic Care Can Offer Pain Relief

Those with cervical radiculopathy may find pain relief for short periods of time with over-the-counter medications. However, unless you reduce the compression on the nerve, the pain may continue to return and could worsen over time. The good news is that chiropractic care can help.

Our chiropractor may use chiropractic  adjustments to the spinal column to help reduce the compression you are feeling. We may also prescribe corrective exercises to help strengthen the neck and help increase circulation to the affected area, which may reduce inflammation and allow you to move your neck more freely.
